Consent is one of the lawful bases for processing under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR, and it is freely given — you are under no obligation to provide it.

4. How we process it

Processing includes collection, recording, organisation, storage, adaptation, use, disclosure to processors acting on our instructions, restriction, erasure and destruction. Processing is carried out by automated and non-automated means.

Where we confirm your professional standing, we do so against publicly available registers maintained by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board. That check is used for no other purpose.

5. How long consent lasts, and withdrawing it

Consent lasts until the purposes above are met or until you withdraw it. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us at the address above — it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew.

Once you withdraw consent we stop the processing and erase the data, unless we have another lawful basis for keeping it (for example, a legal obligation to retain records).

6. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability.
